C-HAWKS Code of Conduct

The C-HAWKS Code of Conduct is based on two simple principles. First, we hold a high ethical standard of game play. Second, we present a single and united image to the rest of the community due to our effectiveness and teamwork. We recognize that when wearing the C-HAWK uniform we are C-HAWKS, and others will treat us according to their opinions of the C-HAWKS. We also recognize that the actions of individuals wearing the C-HAWK uniform reflect upon the rest of the squad. In simple words, whatever you do, good or bad, reflects on not just yourself, but the rest of the squad.

As a member of the C-HAWKS you will be expected to act like "an officer and a gentleman". You will not undertake any unethical behaviors.

This list is not all-inclusive -- just because something is not listed here does not mean it is not unethical. Examples of unethical behavior are:

  • Use of any "feature", documented or not, that ruins the enjoyment of the game for other players. This includes leaving the game to avoid a loss or the use of "hacks" that alters the characteristics of your play.
  • Flooding communications areas, voice or chat, to limit their usefulness to others.
  • Use of foul or abusive language.
  • C-HAWKS are proud defenders of our land. A defection is a treasonous act and you will be hung upon capture.
  • Violating the rules of the Terms of Service. We do not always agree with all of the rules, and from time to time they may get bent a little, but an outright violation severely damages the reputation of the squadron within the community.

Politeness and fair play within the bounds of realistic simulation are generally respected and admired. Above all it is important to both win and lose with dignity and good spirits, for while this is a serious game, it is a game we want to enjoy. Never argue over the merits of a victory over you, even if a player not following our code of conduct achieved it. Salute and carry on, we lead by example in the community, not by derision of others. A high score and kill count will get you pats on the back. That is enough for an independent pilot, but for a member of a squad it is not nearly as important as being an effective part of the C-HAWKS. A squad is a team. We must be able to trust each other to perform our missions and communicate effectively or the team as a whole suffers regardless of the heroic exploits of a single player.

It should not matter so much WHO is doing a WHAT mission. Consistent success requires that players be somewhat interchangeable and be able to perform whatever task is required in whatever vehicle is specified and available. It is through teamwork that we achieve success as a squad. This teamwork requires knowing your role in a mission, and the responsibilities of the mission.

It may sound extreme, but in a fight your goal is not to kill the enemy, but to support your friends. If you are looking out for your fellow squad mates and flight members, and know they are looking out for you, the enemy will be killed or driven off.
